At the 2019 Global Fiber Optic Conference, the international first UV LED curing coating for optical fibers, organized by APC (Asia Pacific Fiber Optic and Cable Conference), was officially released.

At present, global optical fibers, including all materials and various types of auxiliary materials, have diverse forms, production processes, and quality requirements. The conference aims to standardize the fiber optic cable market and promote the standardized and harmonious development of China and even the global fiber optic cable raw material industry through the release of the "Fiber optic Cable Raw Material Standards", which makes it difficult to effectively implement quality control and audit of fiber optic cable raw materials.
The Fiber Optic Cable Raw Material Standard is the first international industry standard for fiber optic cable raw materials and the first international fiber optic cable raw material standard applied to UV-LED curing coatings for optical fibers. The establishment of this standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage of LED coatings.
This standard unifies the process and inspection management methods of fiber optic cable raw materials, providing a basis for the production management and supplier audit of fiber optic cable raw material production enterprises, helping to standardize the production of fiber optic cable raw materials, further improve the quality of fiber optic cable products, and enhance the overall manufacturing level of the fiber optic cable industry.

In the past two years, both domestically and internationally, the demand for optical cables has been increasing year by year. Based on data analysis from the past few years, the year-on-year growth rate of optical cable demand has shown a 3-year small cycle fluctuation. In 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018, there were peak growth rates of the same period, and the average compound growth rate of demand was very stable. Since 2002, it has basically shown a compound growth rate of about 25%.
So we can see that for a considerable period of time in the future, there will be a high demand for optical cables, and at this time, APC's timely release of the "Fiber Optic Cable Raw Material Standards" will also usher in new development for the optical cable market.
