Submarine cables, as the name suggests, are cables laid on the seabed. There are usually two types of cables laid on the seabed: power cables and communication cables.
Due to its larger information capacity, longer transmission distance, good anti-interference ability and confidentiality, submarine cables are also relatively inexpensive in the cable category. Therefore, 99% of communication and data in the world are currently transmitted through submarine cables, and satellites are also used as communication tools, but the proportion is very small, less than 1%. So far, there are almost no other communication methods that can shake the position of submarine cables.
The demand for submarine cables is so huge that no one would be tempted, and mail and financial transaction information from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa mostly flow through submarine cables. It can be said that the countries that dominate the underwater communication network actually control the global data flow.
The world's submarine cable laying business is almost monopolized by the United States, Japan, and Europe, with their business volume accounting for more than 90% of our world share. In recent years, Huawei has gradually established itself internationally in submarine cable projects, not only able to complete close range cable laying businesses in Southeast Asia, Russia, and other countries, but also about 6000 kilometers of submarine cable laying projects connecting South America and Africa. Huawei is also unwilling to be left behind, which has surprised Western countries. China has unconsciously caught up in its technological capabilities in submarine cables.

It is precisely China's rapid growth and development that has caused great anxiety in countries such as Europe, America, and Japan. They attempt to exclude Chinese companies and use various means such as pressure, exclusion, threats, and trade wars to prevent the development of China's submarine cable industry.
But the idea of excluding China is unwise. In the future, the demand for submarine cables will become increasingly large, and relying solely on the capabilities of Europe, America, and Japan will not be able to cope. Moreover, China also has an advantage in international price competition. Therefore, focusing solely on China may have the opposite effect.
