According to different materials, there are three main types of insulation materials commonly used in Shenghua cables: oil immersed insulation paper, plastic insulation, and rubber insulation. Among them, plastic insulation is the most common. Polyethylene, also known as PE, is a thermoplastic resin with excellent characteristics of corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance. In addition, PE also has excellent low temperature resistance and good insulation performance with low losses. Therefore, it is also long used as an insulation material for high-voltage cables

Crosslinked polyethylene

Crosslinked polyethylene, abbreviated as XLPE in English, can be seen from its name that it is somewhat related to polyethylene PE. In terms of time, XLPE is an advanced form of polyethylene, and after continuous improvement, XLPE has surpassed polyethylene in many aspects. Cables using XLPE as insulation material also have advantages, such as greater heat resistance, light weight, corrosion resistance, and higher insulation resistance. XLPE can be said to be a comprehensive upgraded version of polyethylene.
