At the end of October 2019. The pouring of Unit 1 on the left bank of the world's largest under construction Baihetan Hydropower Station has been completed.
As a giant hydroelectric power station with a capacity of tens of millions of kilowatts, the Baihetan Hydropower Station is the most technically challenging hydroelectric project under construction in the world today. It needs to overcome a series of world-class challenges such as the use of low heat concrete pouring construction for the entire dam under complex geological conditions, excavation and support of large-scale underground caverns under high stress conditions, geological stability and construction safety of 700 meter high slopes, and manufacturing and installation of million kilowatt hydroelectric generator units, which are unprecedented challenges.

The concrete of Unit 1 on the left bank, which completed the task, is divided into five layers: elbow tube layer, cone tube layer, volute layer, intermediate layer, and generator layer. The total pouring volume is 23000 cubic meters, and the total weight of metal structure embedded parts is 1800 tons.
The biggest problem faced during the completion of the construction progress of Left Bank No.1 is the welding technology problem of 800MPA high-strength steel volute during the construction process. Therefore, the engineering department has specially established departments such as the "800MPa high-strength steel welding technology research group for pressure steel pipes", the "Baihetan underground powerhouse boutique concrete work group", and the "Baihetan safe and punctual power generation red flag post" to achieve professional research and solve key engineering problems.

With the joint efforts of all employees, we worked tirelessly for 484 consecutive days and nights, lasting for 16 months, and finally completed the concrete pouring of Unit 1 on October 28, 2019, which shortened the construction period by 6 to 10 months compared to similar projects, once again breaking the record for the concrete pouring of large underground power plant units.
Moreover, the completed project has superior quality and can ensure safety. After the completion of the Baihe Hydropower Station, it will become the world's second largest hydropower station after the Three Gorges Hydropower Station.
